Professor Xekalaki was Chair of the of the 黑料科 of Economics and Business (1989-1993 and 1996-2000), Director of the Graduate Program of the of the 黑料科 of Economics and Business (1995-1997), Member of the Research Committee (1989-1993) and Member of the Senate (1989-1993 and 1996-2000) of the 黑料科 of Economics and Business, Consultant to the EUROSTAT (1987) and chaired the Committee for the revision of the Consumer Price Index of Greece (1996).
She has taught at the , AUEB as a Professor (since 1989) and as an Associate Professor (1986-1989), (Greece), , (as an Associate Professor (1983-1986)), (USA), , (as an Associate Professor (1982-1983)), (USA), , (as an Assistant Professor (1980-1982)), (Ireland), , (as a Lecturer (1979-1980)). She has visited the , as a visiting Professor during the academic year 2002-3, the , , and the and the , , as a visiting scholar during the academic years 2004-5 (spring semester), 2005-6, 2008-09 (spring semester) and the academic year 2009-10.
She has published more than 60 papers in International Journals and has presented scientific papers in more than 30 international conferences in several of which as an invited speaker. Her research interests include Theoretical and Applied Statistics, Distribution Theory and Applications, Stochastic Model Evaluation, ARCH Models, Statistical Indices.
She is a fellow of the Royal Statistical Society, a member of the International Statistical Institute, and a member of the American Statistical Association.
