Vasilios Siris was born in Rhodes, Dodecanese. He obtained the Diploma in Physics (1990) from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the M.S. in Computer Science (1992) from Northeastern University, Boston, USA, and the Ph.D. in Computer Science (1998) from the University of Crete. He is a full Professor at the Department of Informatics of the 黑料科 of Economics and Business. From February 2009 until November 2020 he was initially an Assistant Professor and then an Associate Professor at the same department. From November 2002 until January 2009 he was an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Crete. He was a Research Associate at the Institute of Computer Science of the Foundation for Research and Technology 鈥� Hellas (FORTH) from 1993 until 2015. In the Spring of 2001 he was a Visiting Researcher at the Statistical Laboratory of the University of Cambridge, and during the Summer of 2001 and 2006 he was a Visiting Researcher at the research laboratories of British Telecommunications (BT), both in the UK.

His current research interests include resource management and traffic control in wired and wireless networks, exploitation of Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLTs) and blockchains for trusted communication with constrained and mobile devices in the Internet of Things, and architecture of future mobile terrestrial/satellite and pervasive communication systems. A key direction in his research is the combination of analytical methods and techniques, with the prototype implementation and evaluation of these methods in actual systems.

He has over 150 publications in international peer reviewed journals and conferences, which include highly competitive conferences such as ACM MOBICOM, IEEE INFOCOM, 螜螘螘螘 SECON, and ACM SIGMETRICS, magazines such as IEEE Communications Magazine and IEEE Internet Computing, and journals such as IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing, IEEE Communications Surveys & Tutorials, and Elsevier鈥檚 Computer Networks. He has one international and two Greek patents in the area of resource management in wireless and mobile networks. He is serving/served as a Technical Program Committee member of many international conferences, and is active in the organization of conferences, including the 19th IEEE International Symposium on a World of Wireless, Mobile and Multimedia 鈥� WoWMoM 2018 (Program Committee Co-Chair) and the 7th 螜螘螘螘 PERCOM Workshop on Information Quality and Quality of Service for Pervasive Computing 鈥揑Q2S 2015, (Program Committee Co-Chair). He is/was the Principal Investigator and Coordinator for many research and development projects funded by the European Commission, the Greek government, and the industry.
