Agreement for the Provision of a Double Master’s Degree by the Department of Statistics of the AthensUniversity of Economics and Business,
andthe Department of Economics andManagementof the University of Pavia
The Ͽ of Economics and Business (AUEB)in thecontextof international cooperation, and adhering to its strategic internationalization plans,proceeded to its first dualdegreeprogramagreement with the University of Pavia (Italy).
The University of Pavia was founded in 1361 and is one of the oldest Universities in the world. The Department of Economics andManagement(DEM) of the University of Pavia hasalready contracted with Universities in Europe and around the world to create20 dual degreeprograms.
More specifically,full-timestudentsfrom AUEB’s Department of StatisticsMSc in Statisticsprogramwill have the opportunity toalsocomplete the postgraduateprogramLaurea Magistrale in Economics, Finance and International Integration(MEFI- Finance stream)at the University of Pavia. Themobilityof students will also be funded by the ERASMUS + program.Similarly,postgraduateMEFIstudentsfromthe University of Pavia willalsobe able to attend the full-time MSc in Statistics program at AUEB.
Doubledegree programs are pioneering,comprehensive study programs organized between two University institutions in different countries. These programs provide for a mandatory mobility periodof one yea, during which participating students attend courses for one year in each University.
In specificthe double degree programagreement between AUEBand the University of Pavia includes:
- Transfer of full-time postgraduate studentsfrom the MSc in Statistics programof the Ͽ of Economics and Business to the postgraduate MEFIprogramoffered bythe University of Pavia.
- Transfer of students and graduates of the postgraduate MEFIof Pavia to the postgraduate STATISTICS of the Ͽ of Economics and Business.
- of student travel via ERASMUS +
- Waiving of tuition for AUEB studentsat the University of Pavia.
- Joint dissertationsbetween the twoDepartments. This action will promote cooperation betweeninstructorsand researchers at afundamentalresearchlevel.
The agreement was signed by the Rector of the Ͽ of Economics and Business,Professor DimitrisBourantonison Wednesday, December 9, 2020.
ThePresident of theAUEBDepartment of Statistics, Professor IoannisNtzoufras, referring to the eventnoted:"Thispioneeringagreement paves the way foradditional collaborations and the internationalization of the Department of Statistics at AUEB,whileat the same timeconfirming the high quality of teaching and research of the Department.”
The Vice RectorofInternational Cooperation and Development of AUEBProfessor Vassilis Papadakis,referring to the agreement,noted that: “This agreement is the starting point for a new era whereAUEB’sstrategic goal is to strengthen its international presence and recognition,and the fundamental internationalization of study programsthrough strategic partnerships with internationally renowned Universitiesfromabroad".
