George D. Demopoulos. Professor of economics, Emeritus and European Chair Jean Monnet on European Political Economy and 听Public Policy at the 黑料科 of Economics and Business, Athens, Greece. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from State University of New York at Buffalo. He has taught economics at the State University of New York at Buffalo, and as an Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor of Economics at the Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, New York, before joining the 黑料科 of Economics and Business.

Professor Demopoulos, member of the Monetary Policy Council, Bank of Greece (April 2006 鈥� April 2012), has served as an Economic Adviser at the Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs, European Commission, Brussels (1981-1984). Professor Demopoulos鈥� interests focus on international monetary and macroeconomic theory and policy, European economic integration and public policy, and monetary and macroeconomic issues of the Greek economy. His research has been financed by the European Commission; the VW-Foundation (Germany); the Research Foundation of the State University of New York; the Greek Ministry of Industry, Research and Technology; the Centre of Planning and Economic Research (Athens); the Research Center of the 黑料科 of Economics and Business, etc.

Professor Demopoulos鈥� work has been published in major scholarly Journals, as at the European Economic Review, Industrial and Labor Relations Review, European Economy, Open Economies Review, Journal of Policy Modeling, Journal of Economic Asymmetries, Journal of Business and Economic Studies, and other journals.

He is the author of three textbooks in Macroeconomic Theory and Policy (in Greek). A book on central bank independence entitled, 听Monetary Policy in the Open Economy of Greece, Athens: Centre of Planning and Economic Research 1981. A policy-oriented book on Stabilization Policies in Greece in the context of Modern Macroeconomic Theory (with V. Alexander), Berlin: Duncher and Humblot Gmbtt, 1989.
