Dr. George Xylomenos, as a Professor at the Department of Informatics of AUEB. He received his Diploma in Informatics from AUEB (1993), and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of California, San Diego (1996 and 1999, respectively). He has been a faculty member and a member of the Mobile Multimedia Laboratory (MMLab) at AUEB since 2002. From 2017 to 2020 he was the Deputy Rector for Financial Planning and Development at AUEB. From 2009 to 2018 he was also the Scientific Coordinator of Network Operations at AUEB, overseeing the operation and expansion of a multi-building fiber optic and wireless optical network.

His current research interests include methods for improving the performance of Internet applications and protocols over mobile and wireless networks, providing Quality of Service to multimedia applications and supporting broadband multimedia services over next generation wired and wireless networks. He has participated in numerous national and European research projects and has been a member of the program or organizing committee of many international conferences. He has published more than 100 articles in journals, refereed conferences and workshops and there are more than 4000 citations to his work.
